It's that time of the year when we start getting the desperate calls, of my dog got skunked las
last night. We know that painful smell takes forever to get rid of. We also know there is a very popular "remedy" on the internet. You know what we have discovered that it doesn't work, along with tomato sauce, and whatever old skunk receipts you have hear of. Guess what when do dogs get skunked in the middle of the night, or the early morning hours. Guess who is not open..... stores to get the supplies you need. So we have the best solution that you can get in the middle of the night or early morning.
1. DO NOT GET YOUR DOG WET!!!
Once your dog gets wet with that skunk oil, game over. You just made your dog smell for the next six months, that skunk oil thrives in water.
2. Get a jug of Coke (regular coke), and pour that onto your dog DRY. Do not get it on your dogs eyes, or mouth. Let it sit for as long as you can 10-15 minutes.
3. Shampoo your dog. We recommend a Skunk shampoo like Nature's miracle. If you don't have any skunk shampoo on hand. Use your regular dog shampoo, and add baking soda while shampooing.
4. Rinse your dog. Towel dry. No more skunk smell.
Why does this work Coke eats oil. So keep a jug of Coke on hand, the next time your at the Pet Store get a bottle of skunk shampoo. You'll be ready if Mr. La Pew comes for a visit.
