Think of nail trims like good shoes.  Good shoes set your body up, so you don't have aches and pains.  If you wear the wrong shoes, or wear them to long your body suffers.  I know personally, if I don't wear the right shoes while working on my feet all day.  My back and shoulders scream at me, at the end of the day.

The same goes for your dogs.  Keeping your dog’s nails trimmed is important for many reasons including proper posture! Your dog’s joints can be affected by long nails; by making them shift their body weight backwards, making their back and hind legs take more stress than it is designed to. This can lead to arthritis, joint pain, and hip issues.

Dogs use their pads for sensory in the way of feeling and gripping their surfaces making nail trimming even more important.  Most dogs cannot wear down their nails naturally even when being walked on hard surfaces regularly. Nails can get so overgrown that they can even spread your dogs’ toes apart making the easy task of walking a struggle. Dewclaws can grow so long that they can curl back into your dog’s pad and create infections.

How do you know if your pets’ nails are too long? The goal is to get your dog’s nails short enough that they don’t touch the ground. When you hear your pet’s nails “clicking” on the floor then it is time for a nail trim.

Do we do walk in nail trims.  Right now during COVID, NO.  However, you just need to call so we can get you in that day or an upcoming day.
